By happenstance, Dana and Eric met online. She wasn’t sure at first, but after their first date, she had a really good feeling—Never realizing that it would all lead to a walk down the aisle. They don’t really need to say much to each other to show their love. It’s evident in the small, sweet moments between them. They are kind together and so fun to hang out with. We are so looking forward to their wedding just a few months away!

When I first met Maria, she couldn’t say “fiancé” without getting a huge grin on her face. After I met Jonathan, I knew why. They absolutely light up when they are around one another. Completely smitten and totally in love.

They had just one request: A shot of her kissing his arm. A sweet gesture between the two of them. And yes, it’s totally adorable.

It’s lovely to capture their pure love and devotion. We cannot wait for the wedding you two!

Brittney and David met at a high school party where they shyly exchanged beeper numbers (remember those?!). They dated through the years until one day, David proposed to Brittney. He followed it with a surprise engagement party at the Wine Loft. So what better place to start their session than at the Wine Loft?

I love the chemistry between them. There is so much happiness in their hugs and laughter and kisses. It’s that comfort of just knowing and respecting each other. David can’t help but grin when he looks at Brittney. And it’s one of those big, contagious, can’t help it kind of smiles. Later, they brought along the third member of their family: Lola. She’s so sweet and dainty. And obviously knows that she’s their baby girl. She loves kisses, too.

Anna and Cody met in college at Western Kentucky University. Friends at first, they quickly became more. Their love can be found in the simple things. They way he laughs as she struts her killer dance moves. How she grabs for his hand. Their giggles as they strike a pose. There is a warmth and sincerity between them. It’s that familiar, comfortable love. And they couldn’t be better together.

Oh man, we love these guys. They don’t take life too seriously and really live in the moment. After the session, we got some barbecue. Good times were had by all. Anna and Cody, we’re thrilled to be a part of your day, but even more so, to get to know the two of you. Can’t wait to hang out again soon. High fives.

Erica and Chazz | San Francisco Engagement Photography

Erica is from Dayton and Chazz is from Oakland. They met while going to school in Florida. Chazz first spotted Erica playing on the basketball court (she had a full-ride basketball scholarship and was living out her dream). But it wasn’t until they innocently started studying together that their friendship grew. Before they knew it, they had a deep, spiritual connection and love. Which led to Chazz proposing to Erica at his MBA graduation party (I’ve seen the video and it is one of the sweetest, most heartfelt proposals I’ve ever seen). Work took them back to the San Francisco area, where they currently reside. By chance, I happened to be in San Francisco, so we planned to do their engagement shoot an afternoon I was out there. And it was dreamy.

Chazz is such a gentleman. I love the way he loves Erica. I had to smile as he anticipated her thoughts. And Erica is genuine—she loves Chazz with such sincerity and thoughtfulness. Their relationship is comfortable, yet filled with respect and admiration. As Chazz drove us around the city, his sense of pride for his hometown was evident. He and Erica pointed out cute little neighborhoods, the smell of eucalyptus, and the best brunch in Haight-Ashbury. In the short time we spent together, I felt as if I’d known them all along. I really admire their ambition for life. They truly experience it and live it to the fullest. I get the feeling that these two are starting an endless adventure of love and excitement—together. I am truly honored to document their love.

He holds her hand and they gaze into each other’s eyes. As he gently brushes the hair out of her face, they laugh easily. Meet Brooke and Justin. Their smiles are infectious and stay the entire time they’re together. It’s pretty reflective of their love for one another. All smiles. They’re also incredibly genuine and comfortable—We feel like we’ve known them for years. Their relationship is the real deal.

It was Columbus in December, so it was super cold. And it got even colder when we got the the Shoe! But we had fun despite the freezing temperatures. It was a perfect snowy afternoon with them and we’re so excited for their wedding!

Lauren and John | Dayton Engagement Photography

Lauren and John met for the first time in January 2009. A mutual friend brought them together at a pub on a random winter’s night. It was a chance meeting because Lauren was only in town for a couple of days. It took John all night to get the courage to ask her for her number. And then it took him three days to call! That phone call led to one the next day and the next and the next. For a month they talked each day until Lauren moved back to Dayton. They’ve been together ever since. And one night, over bratwurst, John proposed. And Lauren said yes. That’s what I love about these two—Over bratwurst! There is such tenderness between them. And when they weren’t laughing or making goofy faces at one another, they were loving.

Jonah and I have been friends with John for a while. He is extremely talented and can play just about any musical instrument. He actually composed and performed music for our wedding day. Lauren compliments John perfectly. Together, they’re fun, genuine, and sweet as can be.

John was part of our wedding and now we’re shooting his. I love how things come full circle!

Joy and Terry | Dayton Engagement Photography

There are so many things about Joy and Terry I adore. They’re fiercely passionate and loyal with so much respect for each other. I like how Terry can really get Joy to laugh. And not a little laugh, but a big feel-it-down-to-your-toes belly laugh. They know what it takes to make a relationship work—trust, laughter and God. Such a great foundation to start a marriage!

Their session was relaxed and serene. But boy, did they bring it! They are simply stunning. And they make it look easy. But I think it’s because they’re just two people in love. And I love it. Joy and Terry, thanks for sharing a bit of your love with us. We’re so excited to capture your special day.

Whitney and Dustin | Columbus Engagement Photography

Do you know those people you meet and like instantly? Whitney and Dustin are those people. Dustin is witty and funny. He’s the type who doesn’t have to say much to get you laughing . And Whitney is so vibrant and genuine.

After spending a couple of hours with them, you realize how perfect they are together. It is clear they are not only completely head over heels in love, but adorably so.

We spent the evening enjoying the quaint cobblestone streets, gorgeous light and awesome bar food. Jonah and I promised Dustin a beer and finally made good on that promise! And they introduced us to the incredibly funny Tosh.0 (we are forever grateful). It is an honor to shoot their wedding next April. We can’t wait! Here are some of our favorites:

Ritchie & Heather | Cincinnati Engagement Photography

To start, Heather is simply the sweetest person. We met for the first time on Saturday, but have been exchanging emails. Even before meeting her, I knew we would click. She’s smart, funny and has incredible taste. (Wait til you see the wedding details. Eeee!) Ritchie is a bit of an athlete (he played football in college) with a great sense of humor and tons of love and respect for Heather. They’re cool. And classy. But I’m not gonna lie, they’re good at being silly, too!

Their engagement session was a great day of hanging out with fun new friends. (And, no, I’m not just saying that because we have a mutual adoration of all things Ricky Bobby!)

When Ritchie isn’t traveling around the world for work (he was stuck in Europe for 5 extra days due to the volcano ash – yikes!), he loves to play golf. And he and Heather love to play golf together. It’s their thing. So, it makes perfect sense that Ritchie proposed to Heather at a golf course. He put her ball on the tee and when she looked down, there he was, kneeling with the (incredibly gorgeous) ring. Such a surprise! And oh, so clever! When thinking of locations to shoot their engagement session, we knew we simply HAD to go to a golf course.

Ohio had some crazy weather this past weekend—the winds were blowing 30-40 mph. And it was COLD. Seriously, Ohio. It’s MAY! I knew they had to be freezing, but they were such troopers! Even when we crazily asked them to lay on the ground. Ritchie joked that it helped block them from the wind. See why we love them?!

Heather and Ritchie are just the kind of people we feel blessed to come across in our work: kind, funny, and they adore each other. Jonah and I can’t wait for their big day and are so thankful we will be there to capture it. Here are some of our favorites :
